what does "point of Lay" mean?

"Point of Lay" describes a young chicken, a female chicken under one year old - at the time she is about ready to begin laying eggs. Our hens are ready for delivery from 16 -18 weeks of age, before they reach sexual maturity.  This ensures that they are settled in before egg production begins. They will lay around one egg each day, and they are capable of laying egg up to 80 weeks of age.
